Swine flu death toll reaches 1235 and 28,861 tested positive in India

As per the latest report of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, death from swine flu has reached to 1235. Also 28,861 cases I have been tested positive for swine flu in India. Around 123397 people have been tested in India as on Feb 1, 2010. In India, 23.3 per cent of people who have tested for swine flu are found suffering from swine flu. Also around 4 per cent of people who have tested positive for Swine flu, have died and could not be saved in India.

Maharashtra with 317 deaths has seen maximum deaths from swine flu in India. Gujarat also has 242 deaths from swine flu till February 1, 2010. Interestingly Gujarat is the only state where Chief Minister has been tested positive for swine flu. Other Indian states suffering from are Rajasthan (176 deaths from swine flu), Karnataka (141 deaths from swine flu), Delhi (93 deaths from swine flu).

Delhi has highest no. of patients who are tested positive for swine flu. In Delhi 9,652 people have been tested positive for Swine flu so far. Maharshtra has 5116 case of swine flu affected patients and Rjasthan has 2101 patients who were tested positive for swine flu till February 1, 2010.

In the states which are severely affected by swine flu, have high exposure to foreigners. Also people from these states make more foreign visits. However the trend is changing now. On Feb 1, 2010 from the 51 patients who tested positive for swine flu, only one has traveled outside India and remaining 50 have infected in the country only.

Rwandan Government Says No More Swine Flu

Boston (DbTechNo) – The government of Rwanda has announced that there are no more swine flu cases in their country.

This news was made public by an official in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Justin Wane.

He said that following 4 months in which the country was dealing with numerous cases of the virus, as of last week there are no reported cases, and all who developed the swine flu have recovered.

“Since last week, we have not received any reports about emerging cases and certainly the situation is under control now. We mainly attribute the success of this fight to increased hygiene among all Rwandans,” he said.

“It is also important to note that those who contracted the flu made it a point not to infect others. Behavioral change also contributed a great deal to this achievement and we hope that the situation will remain as it is,” Wane added.

Swine flu first hit the country of Rwanda back in October, and since then more than 400 cases have been reported.

Swine flu has taken the world by storm since April of last year, prompting the World Health Organization to label it as a pandemic.

The virus first emerged in April in the country of Mexico and since then has swept across the globe, infecting hundreds of thousands and killing thousands.

6 more swine flu deaths in Gujarat take India toll to 1235

Six more people have died of influenza A (H1N1) in Gujarat, taking the toll due to the swine flu pandemic in the country so far to 1235, an official statement said here today.

Three of the deaths were reported during the day, while reports of three deaths that occurred earlier were also conveyed by the health authorities of the state to the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare today, it said.

Of the total swine flu deaths in the country so far, Maharashtra now accounts for 317, while 242 lives have been lost in Gujarat, 176 in Rajasthan, 141 in Karnataka, 93 in Delhi, 52 in Andhra Pradesh, 38 in Punjab, 36 each in Kerala and Haryana, 22 in Madhya Pradesh, 18 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 each in Chhattisgarh and Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 4 in Jammu & Kashmir, 3 in Orissa, 2 in Assam and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

The statement said 51 new cases of swine flu were reported from different parts of India today, including 28 in Maharashtra, 5 in Delhi, 4 in Rajasthan, 3 in Haryana, 2 each in Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and Gujarat, and 1 each in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

With these, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 28,861, the statement added.

Swine flu kills one more in Egypt, death toll reaches 258

MumbaiSwine flu kills one more in Egypt: After confirming its first case of H1N1 death on July 19, 2009, Egypt registered one more death on Sunday.

Now the swine flu death toll of the nation has reached 258. A 53-year-old man from Assiut governorate succumbed to the deadly flu.

The first victim was a 28-year-old Egyptianwoman coming back from Saudi Arabia after her pilgrimage to Mecca.

North Carolina Casino Experiences Viral Outbreak, Sickens 250

The last six months have been writhe with worry over infection, primarily through the H1N1 “swine flu” virus. While swine flu has dropped off most people’s radar, there is still the scourge of the norovirus. The norovirus had made its way into a North Carolina Casino, leaving almost 250 players with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

In the height of the H1N1 scare, casinos were diligent about keeping their games clean. According to the Associated Press, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel had been undertaking similar cleaning expeditions in order to counteract the norovirus that had been afflicting so many in the casino.

Since January 12th, the cleaning crews have been working to prevent the spread of disease. The staff has been using bleach and water in order keep slot games, hand rails, restrooms, and door knobs cleaned. The workers are moving throughout the casino in an hourly circuit.

Norovirus, responsible for many non-bacterial outbreaks of gastroenteritis, what is more commonly called the stomach flu. The virus is very common and spreads very easily, though breaks down very easily under the strength of bleach.

The outbreak of infection has once again shown players why many have begun switching to online casinos. North Carolina Online Casinos suffer from no such outbreak as that found in land based casinos from time to time.

Two more swine flu deaths in Delhi, toll 92

New Delhi, Jan 25 : Two more people have died of swine flu in the national capital, raising to 92 the number of fatalities from the viral disease, health authorities said Monday.

Of the two deaths, one is that of a 33-year-old woman and the details of the other casualty is yet to be known.

“A 33-year-old woman died at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital,” Anjana Prakash, deputy nodal officer in charge of swine flu control in Delhi, told IANS.

Besides, the city also reported two fresh cases of swine flu. With these two new cases, the cumulative number of infections in the city has gone up to 9,636. The toll so far is 92 in Delhi.

1 new H1N1-related death reported in Utah

Utah health officials are reporting one new swine flu-related death for the week that ended Saturday.

The total number of H1N1-related deaths is now 27 this flu season.

The Utah Health Department says influenza is circulating at a level that is typical for what’s seen during regular flu seasons. Influenza-like activity in Utah increased slightly from what was reported last week.

The health department also says there have been 883 hospitalizations due to both the seasonal flu and swine flu reported this influenza season. That’s two more than were reported last week.

2 more swine flu deaths in Gujarat, toll reaches 213

Ahmedabad, Jan 24 (PTI) Two persons died of swine flu in Gujarat today taking the death toll so far to 213, while 11 new cases were reported from different parts of the state.

According to health department officials, Anand Mavjibhai (32) died of swine flu at PDU hospital in Rajkot while Pratap Gandabhai (35) died at general hospital in Bhavnagar.

In all 213 persons have died due to H1N1 virus while 1,144 people have tested positive with the infectious disease.

Today, new cases were reported from Vadodara,Junagadh, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Ahmedabad.

Swine flu claims another life in J-K, toll rises to 5

Jammu, Jan 25 (PTI) With the death of one more person due to swine flu, the death toll in the pandemic has gone upto five in Jammu and Kashmir, health officials said today.

Garrison Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) employee Manoj Kumar of Kerala, who was admitted to a hospital here on January 17, died last evening.

As a precautionary measure, 30 colleagues of Kumar have been given medicines and are being treated at their unit in Akhnoor.

The pandemic has so far claimed a total of five lives in the state including that of a Kashmiri businessman, a student, a youth and a labourer. Sixty-five positive cases of the flu have been detected so far, health officials said.

7 more swine flu deaths take India’s toll to 1184

Mumbai, January 25: India registered seven more deaths due to swine flu, or influenza A (H1N1), yesterday, health officials in the country reported. Following these, the countrywide toll from swine flu now went up to 1184, they confirmed.

From among these, three deaths occurred in the day itself. These included two deaths that took place in Gujarat and 1 death from Maharashtra. Further, four deaths that had occurred earlier were also confirmed and reported by the respective states in which they took place. The earlier deaths included two from Rajasthan and one each from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Currently, the number of total deaths in the country are divided between the various states as 310 deaths in Maharashtra, 212 in Gujarat, 174 in Rajasthan, 141 in Karnataka, 90 in Delhi, 52 in Andhra Pradesh, 38 in Punjab, 36 in Kerala, 33 in Haryana, 19 in Madhya Pradesh, 18 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 each in Chhattisgarh and Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 3 in Orissa, 2 each in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir and 1 in Mizoram.

Health officials also confirmed reports of nine new swine flu cases in the country. These included 3 from Karnataka, 2 from Gujarat and 1 each from Delhi and Uttarakhand. The new infections have brought up the total figure of H1N1 infections in the country to 28,551.

Swine flu claims 7 more lives, toll at 1,117

New Delhi, Jan 25: At least seven more people succumbed to the deadly Swine Flu, taking the country’s death toll to 1,177.

According to health authorities, four deaths were reported in Chhattisgarh, two in Maharashtra and one in Gujarat on Saturday, Jan 23.

Chhattisgarh has so far reported six deaths due to the pandemic virus. In Maharashtra, the death toll has climbed to 308 and in Gujarat, it has reached 209.

39 Fresh cases were reported across the country.

Health authorities said, “With these new cases, India has so far reported 28,551 infections since it reported its first case of swine flu from Hyderabad in May 2009.”

18-year-old girl dies of swine flu in Georgia, death toll hits 27

18-year old girl died of swine flu Sunday night in Tbilisi, Georgia, Trend reported.

According to doctors, the girl was hospitalized three days ago, however, they were unable to save her life since she suffered chronic paralysis. A/H1N1 death toll reaches 27 in Georgia by now.

The country has recorded 1 247 swine flu cases. Currently the condition of 7 patiens is estimated as grave.

Three die of swine flu in Guj, death toll reaches 216

Ahmedabad, Jan 25 (PTI) Swine flu has claimed three lives in Gujarat, taking the toll due to the deadly virus to 216 in the state, health officials said today.

Eleven fresh cases have also been reported, they said, adding so far, 1,155 people have tested positive of the virus.

20-year-old Kokilaben Chhaganbhai died at civil hospital in Ahmedabad today while two persons — Rudi Bharwad (30) and Gulabbhai Vidhalani (52) — died of swine flu at SSG hospital, Vadodara and general hospital in Jamnagar, respectively.

Bharwad and Vidhlani died yesterday.

Meanwhile, fresh cases of swine flu were reported from Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Anand and Vadodara.

Five more succumb to swine flu in Guj, state toll 198

Ahmedabad, Jan 19 (PTI) Five more persons have succumbed to swine flu taking the toll due to the deadly virus in Gujarat to 198, while 28 fresh cases were reported across the state, health officials said today.

Out of the five cases, four persons died today, they said.

Two persons Niranjan Vyas, 35, and six-month old Rutvik Manu died at PDU hospital in Rajkot, while Kedarnath Yadav, 55, and Denanath Rawal, 24, both died at Civil hospital here.

A 22-year-old woman, Daria Prajapati, died of swine flu at the LJ hospital in Ahmedabad, they added.

Meanwhile, 28 fresh swine flu cases were reported from Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Surat and Bhuj.

123 new swine flu cases and one death in the last 24 hours

Another 123 cases of infection with the A/H1N1 virus and one death have been recorded in Romania in the last 24 hours. The total number of patients recorded on a national scale since the outbreak of the flu reached 6,733, out of which 108 died, according to the Romanian Health Ministry on Wednesday.

Out of the 123 cases, one new patient was recorded in each of the following counties – Alba, Bistrita, Brasov, Covasna, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman and Vaslui, while Cluj, Constanta, Harghita, Hunedoara and Timis recorded two cases each, Arges, Bacau and Ilfov saw each three swine flu cases, Arad and Olt – four each, five in Botosani. Dambovita and Prahova have six new swine flu patients each, 46 in Bacau and 12 in Bucharest.
